SCHOOL DAYS

The school that I attended for all of my school days was Commercial Road Secondary Modern, situated on Spelterworks Road, Sunderland in the County of Durham. The school was split into three 1. Infants  2. Juniors  3. Seniors.

The only mixed part i.e. girls and boys together was the infants. The juniors and the seniors were girls and boys kept apart in their own buildings.  We only ever came together within school  time during Cookery and Dancing.  A very trusting lot was our Education Department.  I suppose one could not blame them really.

The school buildings no longer exist having been demolished and replaced with a modern alternative. A sign of the times I suppose we have to move with the times and try and refrain from living in the past.

Below I have placed three school class group photographs and beneath two of  them I have listed the names of most of my fellow class mates. I owe a big thank you to Ralph Crosby one of my class mates for supplying me with most of the names.
